WELCOME TO WWII ONLINE
SPECIAL EVENTS!
Playnet, CRS and the Special Events
Team (SET) are pleased to announce the beginning of the
World War II Online Special Events program.
About Special Events
The special events program is divided into three categories;
scenarios, tournaments and player-made. All events will
be held on a dedicated server cluster that will not
interupt gameplay on the campaign server. The program
team is made up of CRS and Playnet staff as well as
player-volunteers. The program is set to launch with
a small test event the week of August 18th with the
first large-scale scenario set to follow shortly after
that.
Scenarios will often be
historical re-creations on a large scale with more than
one frame (segment) making up the event. Scenarios take
a lot of planning and organization by staff and members
of the SET to execute. Specific rule sets and scoring
data will be combined to force victory conditions at the
end of each frame. Every loss and every victory will
count towards the final result. It may be even more
important to simply stay alive than it will be to take
down the enemy! Depending on their success, we may offer
scenarios as often as once a month. Scenarios will
require sign-up through the new events website and the
purchase of event tickets which are expected to be
priced at $2 to $3 per frame.
Tournaments are another part
of the Special Events program and are being added to
every player's premium subscription at no additional
charge. Tournaments will be competition ladders
putting brigade versus brigade in pre-planned combat
scenarios with the victor moving onward in the
tournament and the loser dropping out. Tournaments will
focus on specific types of combat with tournament series
in armor, infantry, air and navy. There will be
something for everyone and the strength of brigades will
be the focus of these events. Tournaments will require
brigade/player sign-up through the new events website
and is offered to all premuim subscribers at no
cost.
Player-made events is the
third part of the Special Events program. Using many of
the same tools as scenarios and tournaments, the program
will allow players to create their own battles and
reserve the events server for player-organized and
player-run events with the support of program staff
members. Players who wish to participate in a
player-made event will need to sign-up through the new
events website and purchase event tickets which are
expected to be priced at $2 to $3 event.
We believe this kicks off a brand
new way to experience the terror and excitement that
WWII Online offers. Many members of the special events
team and current players have experience with similar
style of events and can attest to their appeal. Enjoy
and have fun!
